POPI Statement
LIPCO Group (Pty) Ltd ("LAW FOR ALL") processes personal information for clients, employees, and other stakeholders in the ordinary course of business using various channels (website, email, mobile applications, forms, etc.).
We treat personal information as private and confidential and are committed to safeguarding it in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Respecting and protecting your privacy is both a constitutional right and core value of LAW FOR ALL. We therefor adhere to good business practices and implement organisation and technical security measures to prevent loss, damage, unauthorised access, or misuse of your personal information.
1. Our commitment to POPIA principles
We process your personal information in a manner that upholds the following POPIA principles:
- Accountability - making sure that your personal information is processed in a lawful and responsible manner.
- Processing limitation - collecting your personal information for a defined purpose and where applicable, with the necessary consent.
- Purpose specification - using your personal information for the purposes that you expect us to use it for.
- Further processing limitation - where a new purpose for processing your personal information is inconsistent with the original purpose/reason we collected it, we will make sure that our processing activities meet the requirements of POPIA.
- Information quality - reasonable steps are taken to ensure that personal information is accurate, complete, up to date and not misleading.
- Openness - being open, clear and honest with you on how and why we use your personal information and how we protect it.
- Security safeguards - applying and following appropriate and reasonable technical and organisational measures to ensure that confidentiality, integrity and availability of your personal information are secured and protected against loss, damage, unauthorised destruction or unlawful access.
- Data subject participation - having processes in place for you to access, correct and delete your personal information and exercise your rights in terms of applicable data protection laws.
2. Lawful grounds for processing personal information
We process personal information only when permitted by law, including:
- Consent: Where you (or a competent person, in the case of a minor) have given express consent for specific processing purposes.
- Contractual necessity: When processing is required to perform or enter into a contract with you.
- Legal obligation: When processing is necessary to comply with legal or regulatory duties.
- Legitimate interests: Where processing supports our legitimate business activities and does not infringe on your privacy rights.
3. Information Security
LAW FOR ALL employs appropriate safeguards to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse, or disclosure. Access to personal information is restricted to authorised personnel only. We continuously monitor, review, and improve our data protection measures in line with best practices.
If you suspect any security breach or unauthorised use of your personal information, please notify us immediately at information.officer@lawforall.co.za so that appropriate action can be taken.
4. Your Rights
If you have any comment, question, or complaint about how we process your personal information, in terms of POPIA, you have the right to:
- Access and request a record of your personal information;
- Request correction, deletion, or destruction of inaccurate or outdated personal information;
- Object to the processing of your personal information; and
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe your personal information has been unlawfully processed.
